TimberNook West Austin: Bee Creek & Marble Falls

TimberNook programming is a nature-play adventure for children developed by Occupational Therapists. It was designed as the vehicle to get children outdoors in sensory-rich experiences that inspire, restore, and challenge the mind and the body. We strive to be the “living example” of what real, authentic outdoor play should look like. Our programs are a great way to socialize and to continue learning through play that complements other homeschool or partial-school programs. It is also a great opportunity to complement therapy for children with motor, sensory, or other developmental challenges.

Links & Other Resources

TimberNook experiences are developed based on their therapeutic value and ability to inspire children to think and play in new, creative ways. The benefits extend far beyond the duration of the program—children take away valuable skills that can last a lifetime.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS & POLICIES

When deciding if this program will be a good fit for your child, please take the following into consideration:
  • Our TimberNook programs are inclusive; we are a safe place for children and families of all abilities, backgrounds, and belief systems.
  • We maintain a 6:1 child to adult ratio where the role of the adult is to "step back and tune in". TimberNook staff are extensively trained on this method and a Certified Provider will be present at every program. Staff will maintain visual contact with children at all times, but may be out of arm’s reach. Staff allow children the opportunity to build conflict resolution skills, but will step in when required such as when safety is a factor.
  • We expect children to maintain visual contact of a TimberNook staff person, stay within the designated (unfenced) boundaries of our site, and be able to manage their needs (such as eating, drinking fluids, and using the restroom).
  • We understand that children sometimes have varying abilities and unique needs. If your child requires ADDITIONAL SUPPORT, please contact us to make a plan. If the child requires 1:1 support to attend, you must provide the support person as we are unable to meet this level of supervision within the program. This support person will be required to attend a special training provided by our Certified Providers prior to the start of the program.
  • If the cost is prohibitive, please contact us to inquire about sponsorship opportunities.
  • If you or someone you know would like to subsidize a spot for families who cannot attend at full cost, please get in touch!

PACKING LIST:
  • ample amounts of snacks
  • refillable water bottle

  • extra layers of clothing depending upon the weather (we are an All-Weather Program which means we will play in the cold, hot, rain, or shine!)
